Carol is a DONA certified doula providing both labor support and post partum care.  Carol gently guides women and their partners through the birth process and into the world of parenting.  She believes that giving birth is a rite of passage, a sacred moment in every woman's life.  Birth doulas recognize this and work to create a safe and comfortable place for a woman's birth story to unfold.  Partners are honored as a vital part of the birth process and are never replaced by a doula's support.  Carol has been trained to teach parents how to soothe their babies using Dr. Harvey Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block methods. She is available for in home consultations days and evenings. As a mother of two, Carol brings a real life perspective and a healthy sense of humor to her practice.  Carol has been working as a doula since 2003. 

Believing that all women deserve the comfort and peace of dependable labor support, Liz became a self-employed birth doula in 1997, certifying with DONA International in1998.  She is honored and qualified to support families in a variety of situations including natural birth, HypnoBirth and birth with medication or anesthesia.   Liz has a special interest in working with depressed mothers or those who’ve experienced postpartum depression.  She teaches in-home childbirth classes, a good option for parents preparing for natural birth, those with difficult schedules or mothers on bed-rest.  Liz’s service also includes birth-planning and breastfeeding preparation.   She is also a member of the Southern Maine Breastfeeding Coalition and is a co-facilitator of the Seacoast Postpartum Adjustment Group.   Liz and her husband moved to York four years ago after raising their son and daughter in southern NH. 
 

Lisa is an experienced maternity nurse and mother to 4 amazing children.  She has personally experienced the challenges, joys and rewards of natural childbirth, exclusive breastfeeding and parenting her own children.  She feels she has valuable life experiences, a broad knowledge base and the passion needed to be with families during pregnancy, labor & birth, breastfeeding and the postpartum period.

Lisa's primary role is non-clinical: to mother the mother, nurture the newborn and support the family unit through information, guidance, understanding, encouragement, support, assistance and advocacy.  She is attentive, compassionate, nurturing, gentle, sensitive, supportive, respectful, resourceful, intuitive and a great listener.

Because Lisa is an RN, IBCLC she has the ability to do clinical assessments, care and lactation consultations within her scope of practice when necessary, however Lisa's practice is built on a preventative or wellness model.  She feels that preventing problems before they start is so much more productive than trying to fix them once they occur.  For this reason Lisa offers individualized prenatal support and information, non-clinical labor & birth support services and unique in home mother-baby postpartum care services: scheduled, overnight, and/or last minute care.

Amy is an experienced Labor and Delivery nurse, prenatal massage therapist and prenatal yoga instructor with experience in both private practice and clinical settings. She has provided birth and postpartum doula services, and is a perinatal educator. With a unique blend of skills and expertise, and a genuinely supportive nature, Amy offers her clients extraordinary perspective and insight into the childbearing year.
 

Ellen has been a doula and childbirth educator since 1996.  Her knowledgeable and gentle approach nurtures and builds confidence in the new family during the first days and weeks after the baby's birth.  Ellen offers breastfeeding support, guidance and education with baby care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, sibling care and resources and referrals.  She also teaches birth, postpartum and siblings classes and is available for birthplanning consultations and bellycasting.  Ellen is the mother of two wonderful daughters and it is through her own experience of being pregnant, giving birth and the evolution of parenthood that she discovered her passion for supporting birthing women, babies and their families.

Krista is a postpartum doula certified through DONA International and is a member of the Seacoast Doula Group. She also holds a degree in Family Studies with a Religious Studies minor from the University of New Hampshire. Krista has worked with newborns (including multiples!), siblings, and parents for over ten years in a variety of settings both in the United States and abroad in New Zealand. She has a strong background in parent-child attachment, family dynamics, growth and development, and family support; additionally, she understands the impact of religion on family life.

Krista’s services include parenting education regarding feeding, baby care, coping skills, sibling adjustment, and parent-child attachment. Krista assists with sibling care and various household organization, such as doing the dishes, laundry, and light meal preparation; she also provides non- judgmental support and companionship for all family members. A recent client described Krista in the following way: “Krista is clearly experienced in working with infants and displays a confident and very calm manner which is invaluable. (She) is mature, professional and knowledgeable and I would say the words calm and consistent describe her working style perfectly.”

Krista believes that all families are unique and deserve compassionate support during such an important life transition; her job is to help parents create a solid foundation to build their families on and she is honored to be a part of that process!

Maria believes that every woman deserves to enjoy her birth and postpartum experience and considers it an honor to assist each family through this journey. With her unique talents Maria has supported many families from the beginning stages of preparing for birth, through birth and into the postpartum months to follow. 

Maria began assisting women in 2004 and became a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International in 2005.  She is now a Certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, and conducts in-home classes. She is the backup HypnoBirthing® instructor for Wentworth Douglass in Dover, NH.   Maria is also a Certified Lactation Counselor.  In 2007 Maria combined all of these talents to start her NH based business: Harmonious Beginnings, offering Birth & Postpartum Support for the Whole Family.

Susan Remillard is a postpartum doula having been certified through DONA with additional training at The Ballard House in Portland, Maine.  She is a member of The Seacoast Doula Group and is a co-facilitator of the Seacoast Postpartum Adjustment Group.   Susan is uniquely qualified to help your family, having experienced childbirth five times at very different intervals of her life – at 18, 20, 23, 37 and 45 – she brings a range of knowledge to her practice.  Whether becoming a new mother as a teen or later in life, she is aware of the differences AND the similarities, with over 30 years of experience with babies and children.

Andrea Rutherford is a birth doula who supports women during pregnancy, labor and birth, and through the postpartum journey.  Andrea believes that pregnancy and birth are both natural processes and that every woman deserves to be cared for and nurtured with compassion.  She creates a nurturing and compassionate experience in any birth space – home, hospital or birth center. 

In addition to birth Doula services, Andrea offers unique and holistic pregnancy and Childbirth Awareness classes.  She provides several options to foster the mother’s innate abilities and help both parents make confident choices in pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood.  Andrea’s classes and workshops are offered for expectant mothers and fathers in small groups or private sessions.  Andrea also holds a weekly group for new mothers to support mother and family and to facilitate mother-to-mother connections.  She provides prenatal breastfeeding education, lactation support and counseling.
